On October 13 I asked the political parties for comments regarding a suggestion to introduce Ration Cards to limit the release of CO2 in Sweden.
On this site we can follow the answers to this proposal.

On the climate conference in Stockholm in November 2006 I asked the panel why we don't have ration cards for CO2 in Sweden. Now exactly this has been proposed by the British environmental minister David Miliband. A Swedish newspaper wrote an article about this in Feb 25, 2007. The English proposal can be found via this link: British proposal for Ration cards.
|Centern||2006-11-29||Personal carbon trading has been suggested in 2006 as a meens to increase personal awareness and savings|
|Folkpartiet||2006-11-10||Folkpartiet have no proposal on ration cards for CO2. As far as we know the party has not looked into this question.|
|Kristdemokraterna||2007-03-09||Kristdemokraterna have no proposal for introduction of CO2 ration cards. But we want to extend the EU trading system for GHG to include traffic and transport. In that sense it would be more practical to put the requirement of carbon trading on the petrol seller rather than on the end customer.|
|Miljöpartiet||2007-01-19||The green party has discussed the question about personal trading rights, but it is a very complex question and we have yet not decided against or for. The most important in this situation is primarely to get the industrial carbon trading to function.|
|Vänsterpartiet||2006-11-30||Vänsterpartiet has not decided regarding personal ration cards, but we have lots of other proposals to reduce CO2 release. See: motion 2006.|
This conference inspired the publit to ask many questions. I asked why there is no discussion about ration cards for CO2. From the answer I got the impression that it might be a good idea but that nobody had thought a lot about it. Naturvårdsverket has issued a summary of the public questions and (in Swedish) this was the summary regarding my question:
"Från publiken kom frågor om varför man inte inför ransoneringskort för koldioxid. Utsläppshandel kan sägas vara en form av ransoneringskort för berörda företag. På individnivå ansågs en "klimatmotbok" vara en intressant möjlighet med både miljöpolitisk och pedagogisk poäng. "
